NOW AVAILABLE—ANNUAL MEETING MEDIA KIT

To receive the ASA Annual Meeting electronic media kit, please contact ASA Communications at 847-825-5586, or at communications@asahq.org

Media Registration
Registration is complimentary but necessary for media representatives to attend any annual meeting session. Working members of the media can register for the meeting by completing the registration form.

Reporters can receive their credentials during the meeting in the ASA press room at McCormick Place, Lakeside Building Level 2, Room E-251, on October 14-18 during the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Each media registrant must provide photo identification issued by federal, state or local government and a letter of assignment on company letterhead or a business card at the time that they pick up their press badge. Samples of the publication being represented may be required. Registrants without proper identification will not be admitted.

A press badge is required for admittance to all annual meeting activities and must be visible at all times. There is a $50 fee to issue a replacement badge if lost or stolen. Companies that are exhibiting may not request journalist credentials for any of their staff, and journalists working for exhibiting companies may not register as media. Spouses and other guests of journalists cannot register as press.

Any individual with a press badge who markets, sells or represents a company for the purpose of obtaining advertising or subscriptions from any registrant or exhibitor or who violates any stipulation for credentialing will immediately forfeit media credentials for this and subsequent meetings.

Media Credentials
The ASA annual meeting is open to representatives of print, electronic, general interest media, and healthcare trade media. Freelance writers must present a letter of assignment printed on the official letterhead of the media outlet to receive media credentials.

Credentials to cover the ASA annual meeting will be granted to no more than three individuals from any one recognized media organization. Those desiring to send additional representatives must contact the ASA Director of Communications before the meeting at (847) 825-5586, or during the meeting at 312- 949-3200.

Television, video crews and still photographers may receive media credentials. ASA requires that these individuals check in with the press room prior to filming or photographing an event to receive permission from the presenter and/or ASA. A member of the ASA staff must escort anyone who is recording audio, taking photography or shooting video in the exhibit hall. Audio recording, photography and video are not permitted during any of the educational sessions.

General Conditions
Media representatives with a press badge may cover all scientific events occurring during the annual meeting with the exception of certain ticketed courses or closed events. Representatives should feel free to contact the press room staff for assistance in scheduling interviews and locating presenters.

Members of the media are observers of, and not participants in, all annual meeting presentation question-and-answer sessions. Questions to presenters from the media are limited to before and after presentations. ASA may restrict the attendance at any session for patient confidentiality or any other reason.

ASA does not make available press registration lists or its news release distribution list.

Media events or news briefings other than those organized by ASA are not permitted in any ASA meeting areas or headquarter hotels.
