| Objective | At the conclusion of the session, the participant will: 1) Have an understanding of the complex interplay between hyper and hypo-coagulable states; 2) Be able to describe the new drugs and clotting factor preparations that may be used to treat the hemostatic imbalance in the severely bleeding patient.Genetic influences on hypercoagulability will be discussed. Risk of bleeding and the cost of transfusion will also be covered for the bleeding surgical patient. | ||
