Recognizing the growing impact that nonanesthesiologists have on the specialty, the Task Force on Sedation and Analgesia by Non-Anesthesiologists offers these revised practice guidelines, which were published in the April 2002 issue of Anesthesiology.  The guidelines allow clinicians to provide their patients with the benefits of sedation/analgesia while minimizing the associated risks.  Detailed charts and tables illustrate common problems and principles.
